What we are asking the New South Wales Government to do

Fair regional travel support

Regional NSW residents are paying an average of $121.25 a night above the current accommodation subsidy, which can exceed $3,000 over a month. Call on the NSW Government to strengthen and modernise the Isolated Patients Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme:

  • Increase the accommodation subsidy to $160 per night, covering at least 70% of typical costs.
  • Increase the private vehicle subsidy to 45 cents per kilometre.
  • Introduce annual indexation for travel and accommodation subsidies.

Cancer care closer to home

  • Expand investment in regional cancer centres and outreach so patients can access treatment and support locally.

Affordable hospital parking

  • Ensure every NSW hospital provides fair concessional parking for cancer patients, regardless of who operates the car park.
