What we are asking the the Northern Territory Government to do
Supported travel to treatment within and beyond the Territory
Strengthen the Patient Assistance Travel Scheme so Territorians can affordably travel within the NT and interstate for specialised cancer treatment:
- Increase the accommodation subsidy to $155 per night for stays near treatment centres in Darwin and Alice Springs.
- Implement place-based subsidies for interstate treatment hubs such as Adelaide and Brisbane, meeting at least 70% of average accommodation costs.
- Increase the private vehicle subsidy to 45 cents per kilometre.
Better support for cancer-care access and navigation
- Strengthen the Patient Assistance Travel Scheme, regional coordination and patient navigation so Territorians can access cancer care on time and close to home where possible, with travel and accommodation assistance when care must be delivered in Darwin or interstate.
