What we are asking the Tasmania Government to do
Fair interstate travel support
Strengthen Tasmania's Patient Travel Assistance Scheme so Tasmanians can affordably travel interstate for specialised cancer treatment:
- Increase the accommodation subsidy to $125 per night, covering at least 70% of typical accommodation costs.
- Increase the private vehicle subsidy to 45 cents per kilometre.
Better support navigating interstate cancer care
- Strengthen PTAS, regional coordination and patient navigation so Tasmanians can access appropriate mainland specialist care without unnecessary financial and logistical barriers.
Affordable hospital parking for cancer patients
- Introduce a clear statewide parking concession scheme, building on existing local concessions so patients and carers can reliably access discounted or free parking at major hospitals.
