What we are asking the Victoria Government to do
Fair regional travel support
Regional Victorians are paying an average of $125 a night above the current accommodation subsidy, which can exceed $3,500 over a month of treatment. Call on the Victorian Government to strengthen and modernise the Victorian Patient Transport Assistance Scheme:
- Increase the accommodation subsidy to $125 per night, covering at least 70% of typical costs.
- Increase the private vehicle subsidy to 45 cents per kilometre.
- Introduce annual indexation for travel and accommodation subsidies.
Cancer care closer to home
- Expand investment in regional cancer centres and outreach so patients can access treatment and support locally.
Affordable hospital parking
- Introduce a statewide hospital parking concession scheme for cancer patients.
